{"id":7,"date":"2014-12-06T14:45:57","date_gmt":"2014-12-06T12:45:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.signsoflifemissions.co.za\/?page_id=7"},"modified":"2026-04-22T22:37:15","modified_gmt":"2026-04-22T20:37:15","slug":"bible-baptist-college-for-the-deaf","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.signsoflifemissions.org.za\/?page_id=7","title":{"rendered":"Bible Baptist College for the Deaf"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Learn the Deaf way&#8230;<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Deaf people are not like hearing people. \u00a0How? \u00a0Hearing people learn through a spoken language. \u00a0Deaf people learn through a visual language. \u00a0Principles of learning are the same, but the language of communication and instruction is not. \u00a0Bible Baptist Church of the Deaf meets this need.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Our church is different from a \u201chearing\u201d church in that all services are in Sign Language: the language of the Deaf. \u00a0A Deaf church is simply a church that uses Sign Language as its language of communication; much the same as a Xhosa church, a Korean church, or any other church. Going to a Deaf church is different in that everything learned is through the Eyes instead of the Ears.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Bible Baptist Church of the Deaf was established in 1996 and through our outreach many people have been led to faith in Christ.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong><span style=\"color: #000080; font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Why a Deaf Church?<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Jesus said, \u201cGo ye, therefore, and teach all nations\u2026\u201d \u00a0Matthew 28:19<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">The word \u201cnations\u201d means \u201ctribe or people group.\u201d \u00a0Because God created all languages (Genesis 11), He wants all language groups to know the Gospel of Jesus Christ. \u00a0A Deaf church is simply a church that reaches the people group that uses Sign Language. \u00a0If Sign Language is your method of communication, then a Deaf church is for YOU!<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong><span style=\"color: #000080; font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">A Biblical Approach<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Most church outreach to the Deaf depends upon hearing interpreters to interpret the sermon from a spoken language to a visual language. \u00a0This can be helpful, but is not the best means for the Deaf to learn. \u00a0In any setting, the best learning takes place when the language of teaching is the same used by the students who look to their instructors as role models. \u00a0Jesus commanded us to make disciples of all nations. \u00a0We are to establish churches for those disciples, not \u201cministries.\u201d \u00a0Therefore, the Deaf church is the Biblical approach to reaching the Deaf community.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong><span style=\"color: #000080; font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Why not see for yourself?\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Come and visit us and see what you are missing.
